Hows about some Northern Territories hokum for your Sunday?

C.W. Stoneking is the rare old-time revival act who pulls it off. Among the proliferation of what I like to call “vaudeville hipster” you have a few bands, like the White Ghost Shivers, who come across as genuine in their own right, although on the extreme side of self-indulgent,  but too many – take the Two Man Gentlemen Band – who are just cheesy.

Stoneking, on the other hand, has the spirit within him. And by “spirit,” I don’t know if we’re talking the force or just a good flask of whiskey…but at some point in Stoneking’s life, he must’ve had a bedside visit from the ghost of Blind Willie Johnson.
